AI video tools, agent memory, and ChatGPT ads
An open-source video tool can take a short clip from script to final edit, though you'll still need to check the result. For AI coding agents, we look at two ways to keep project context and a tool for making 3D models. Plus, OpenAI is testing ads alongside ChatGPT images, and a new federal AI task force has no rules to act on yet.

OpenMontage: World's first open-source, agentic video production system.
OpenMontage is an open-source toolkit that uses a coding agent to take a video from research and script through assets, editing, and final render. Its pipelines cover explainers, product-style clips, screen demos, localization, and documentary montages assembled from real archival or stock footage (not just animated stills). The project says a no-paid-key setup can use Piper narration, open footage, Remotion or HyperFrames, and FFmpeg; optional generation services add costs. Its showcased 60-second animated short reportedly cost $1.33 in provider usage, but that's an example rather than a price guarantee.
If you regularly make short marketing or training videos, test a low-stakes brief with the free-footage path first and review source rights, factual claims, and final edits before publishing.

Kevin Liao — agents don't need memory, they need documentation
Kevin Liao argues that AI coding agents need maintained project documentation more than searchable snippets of past conversations. Similarity-based retrieval can surface outdated decisions without their context, while an agent may not know what to search for in the first place. His free, open-source Operator Memory plugin keeps instructions, specs, research, and indexes in Markdown files that an agent consults before work and updates afterward; Liao says he's used the approach for over a year. This is an argument based on his experience, not a comparative benchmark.
If your agent repeatedly forgets project decisions, try a small, version-controlled set of current docs and require it to read and maintain them before adding a memory service.

claude-mem: Persistent Context Across Sessions for Every Agent
Claude-Mem is an Apache-2.0 agent-memory plugin that records tool activity, summarizes sessions, and retrieves relevant history when work resumes. It uses a local Bun worker, SQLite, and Chroma search, with hooks for Claude Code and integrations advertised for other agents. Its installer offers a hosted observer with a free trial of up to 14 days, plus options to use your own AI provider or Anthropic plan; a no-online-opt-in setting skips sign-in. The README also documents private tags to exclude sensitive material from storage.
If lost context is costing your team time, compare its retrieval against maintained project docs, and review what it captures, where data goes, and post-trial costs before installing it on a sensitive codebase.

text-to-cad: Give your agent CAD superpowers.
text-to-cad is an MIT-licensed plugin that lets AI agents create local 3D models in STEP, STL, GLB, or 3MF formats, produce engineering drawings, and check designs for printing or fabrication. It offers plugins or skills for several agents, including Claude Code and Codex, and uses a local CAD server and viewer when installed as a plugin. First run downloads a CAD runtime through uv; Codex needs version 0.142.0 or newer. On Windows 11, Smart App Control may block its unsigned CAD dependency, and the project suggests WSL as an alternative.
For a shop that prototypes parts, try it on a noncritical design and independently check dimensions and manufacturability before sending files to a printer or vendor.

Building advertising for the way people use AI
OpenAI will test visual ads alongside ChatGPT image generation with an initial group of US advertisers later in October. The ads will be labeled and separate from generated images, and OpenAI says they won't affect ChatGPT's answers. It also added conversion-data integrations with Hightouch, Tealium, and LiveRamp, expanded attribution partnerships, and is piloting independent brand-suitability checks with DoubleVerify and Integral Ad Science. OpenAI says businesses can sign up now, but the new format is still in limited testing.
If ChatGPT ads fit your customer acquisition plan, sign up and ask about access, pricing, and how conversions will be measured before shifting budget from existing channels.

Trump unveils his new Super Intelligence Force
President Trump announced a federal Super Intelligence Force to coordinate the administration’s AI efforts. The Wall Street Journal reports that national intelligence director Jay Clayton will chair it, with leaders from the FTC, Defense Department, and Office of Personnel Management as vice chairs. The group reportedly has 120 days to report on AI risks and opportunities, and its charter calls for addressing AI-enabled threats without stifling competition through overregulation.
No business rules have changed with this announcement. Watch the task force’s report for proposals that could affect AI purchasing, safety requirements, or competition.
